Casper driver claims WISSOTA class title

Casper native Jason Schierkolk has been racing since he was 10 years old. Now 23, Schierkolk won his first major championship earlier this month when he captured the title in the WISSOTA Limited Late Models classification.

The WISSOTA Dirt Track Series has tracks throughout the upper Midwest, as well as in Wyoming and Montana. The Limited Late Models classification was run as a pilot project this year in the Western racing region, with races in Casper, Gillette, Glenrock, Rapid City, S.D., and Montana.

"Everybody used the same motor," Schierkolk said of the 400-HP GM crate motor. "That made it so nobody could be outdollared or outclassed."

With with everybody using the same motor, Schierkolk must have been the best driver, right?

"Yea, I guess," he said.

Schierkolk and other winners in the WISSOTA series were honored   Nov, 10 th at a banquet in St. Cloud, Minn.
